I am a Consultant Child, Adolescent and Adult psychotherapist. I first trained as a clinical psychologist abroad, and then as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Tavistock Centre. I have worked in the NHS for more that 25 years, starting in the Child and Family Consultation Service in East London, where I developed a special interest in working with parents and young children, to later moving on to the Portman Clinic (part of The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust) where I later became the Clinical Lead for the treatment of young people, specialising in the assessment and treatment of highly complex patients.
Alongside my NHS work I have had a private clinical practice in which I have been working with young people and adults presenting with a variety of difficulties such anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, relationships difficulties, obsessional & intrusive thoughts, eating issues and compulsive addictive behaviours. I have worked with parents struggling with challenging children and have a great deal of experience with the specific challenges of adoption and fostering. Apart for my clinical practice I provide consultations to teams, organisations and institutions helping them develop and enhance their working cultures. I teach, train and supervise regularly.
My general approach is straight forward, compassionate and open. I offer a preliminary discussion, followed by a period of assessment focused on formulating a first impression of difficulties, their origins and meaning. I offer periodical consultations with parents alongside a young person’s treatment. Frequency depends on clinical understanding and need.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please email me and we can set a time to discuss the issues you are concerned about and how I might be able to help.
I am a member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists, the Bowlby Centre, the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and The Association for Psychodynamic Practice and Counselling in Organisational Settings (APPCIOS).
