Esra Caglar

I am a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist, adult psychoanalyst, and member of the General Medical Council (GMC), the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). With over 15 years of experience, I provide care to children, adolescents, and young adults, specializing in anxiety and mood disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders and psychotherapy. My approach is patient-centred and holistic, involving a robust, integrative assessment and close collaboration with each individual's support network. I am passionate about supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges, helping them reach their full potential.

Having trained at the Maudsley Hospital, the Tavistock Clinic, and the Institute of Psychoanalysis, and conducted research at both the Institute of Psychiatry and Harvard Medical School, I bring a wealth of expertise to my work. My experience spans outpatient, inpatient, and day hospital settings, allowing me to support patients of all age groups effectively.

I regularly teach and mentor professionals. I lead as the child psychiatrist at New Beginnings, a charity providing support for traumatized and displaced children living in Turkey. Additionally, I have a special interest in working with those from artistic, performance, and sports backgrounds.
