Child and adolescent psychiatrists work with children and young people who have mental health problems. including emotional and psychiatric problems such as anxiety, phobias, depression, ADHD, autistic spectrum conditions as well as eating disorders.

Mental health problems in childhood can have an enormous impact on a child's development and the stress and impact on families can also be immense so our psychiatrists usually work with the child/young person’s carers as well as the child or young person.

Much of the work is to identify the problem and advise on what may help. Where appropriate, our child psychiatrists will refer children and adolescents and their families for talking therapies. Our psychiatrists and our child and family psychotherapists work together to determine the right help for your child or teenager.
