Dr Damian McCann is a senior psychoanalytic couple psychotherapist and consultant family and systemic psychotherapist and has been part of the Queen Anne Street Practice for the past three years.
For over 25 years, I was employed in the NHS, as a consultant family and systemic psychotherapist working with the mental health needs of children, young people and their families. I currently work at Tavistock Relationships and in private practice as a psychotherapist and supervisor and am also an adjunct faculty member of the International Psychotherapy Institute based in Washington, DC.
I have specialist clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of:
– Couples in conflict
– Couples in the process of separation and divorce and its impact on children
– Parents and families in dispute
– Individuals, couples and families with concerns relating to gender and sexuality
– Helping couples during the transition to parenthood
– Issues relating to parenting
Alongside my practice interests and experience, I publish and lecture widely both nationally and internationally on topics relating to gender and sexuality, violence and abuse in couple relationships and parenting.
I am on the editorial board of Couple & Family Psychoanalysis and am a reviewer of papers submitted for publication to the British Journal of Psychotherapy and the Journal of Family Therapy.
I am a UKCP registered systemic psychotherapist and registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council.
