I am a consultant psychiatrist and psychoanalyst with over 20 years of experience of working in the area of mental health. I completed my psychiatric training at the Maudsley and Bethlem Royal Hospital, working in the areas of general adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, addictions, forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy. Following my qualification as a consultant forensic psychiatrist and medical psychotherapist, I then went on to work at the Tavistock and Portman Clinics for 15 years, specialising in the treatment of psychological difficulties using group and individual psychotherapy.
During the latter period of my career in the NHS, I was Head of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust Adult Psychotherapy Department, head of adult psychiatry and clinical lead for the Portman Clinic, which specialises in the psychotherapeutic treatment of persons who suffer from compulsive sexual behaviours.
Alongside my career in the NHS, I qualified as a psychoanalyst at the Institute of Psychoanalysis, and am a Fellow of the British Psychoanalytical Society.
I am passionate about the use of a psychoanalytic psychotherapy to help those who are suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, personality disorders and compulsive sexual behaviours. I am also able to provide supervision for clinicians working with complex presentations and patients who present risks to themselves or others.
If you would like a preliminary discussion regarding the possibility of working together, please contact me by email and I will be happy to speak with you. We can then meet for an initial consultation in order to develop a comprehensive understanding of your difficulties and agree upon a treatment plan.
I am a fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and General Medical Council (GMC).
